LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts) has become the largest statutory speech and drama awarding body in the UK, offering the most refined and comprehensive system of performance evaluation by experts in education, acting and communication. LAMDA examinations are designed to equip learners, whatever their age or aspirations, with a range of skills that will serve them throughout life. The exams allow students to use a range of different qualifications and at the higher levels gain recognised UCAS tariff points which go towards university entry requirements.

 

During the preparation for these sessions students will work on developing interpretive and theatrical skills.  They will also gain knowledge of the performance process and how to communicate thoughts and feelings to an audience.

 

Frenzy teach speech and drama using the LAMDA syllabus to explore a range of creative ideas. From the young beginner practising their favourite poem to the advanced student preparing a monologue scene from Shakespeare or Chekhov, we will share how to use the breath and voice whilst telling a story.

 

The sessions will include exploring the syllabus and ensuring students understand what preparation is required for the exam. The sessions will also include vocal warm-up exercises, devising drama activities, discussion work and shaping the exam material chosen for each student. Some of the many benefits of taking the exam are to increase confidence in the physicality of speech and language along with improving communication and conversational skills. Also the exposure to a variety of texts written by highly regarded playwrights, authors and poets.

 

It is recommended that 10-15 hours tuition is needed to prepare for the exams but this is dependant on age, ability and grade.
